casino games

You step inside a casino for the first time, excited with the anticipation of making some money, but you become overwhelmed by the sheer number of games that the casino has to offer, and don't know where to begin. Sound familiar? Casinos are constantly growing in size and volume, and they're constantly looking for new casino games that will attract new casino patrons. Casino games are a science, and there are numerous companies out there that deal with creating the best games that their teams can think up, taking into consideration such seemingly unimportant details as machine color, size and location. A well-known industry secret that lasted up until a few years ago was to keep the color green out of slot machines. It was believed that the color green had such a strong effect as to stop people from playing a machine.

Some of the more well known, traditional casino games are as follows:

Poker: One of the most classic casino games there is, some argue that it is the only pure game left. For the most part, players battle against one another to win the money or "pots" that each player bets. There are poker games in which you play against the dealer, such as "3-card," but player vs. player is the more traditional form.

Blackjack: Casino game that is also referred to as "21," this is a card game in which you battle against the dealer to see which of you can get closest to "21" without going over, or "busting."

Slots: The slot machines are one of the most popular casino games. You simply insert your coins, crank the lever, and hope for winning combinations on the wheels. There are generally 3 wheels per machine with a total of 8 possible stops on each… you do the math.

Roulette: In the case of American casinos, an "American Wheel" is used with numbers 1-36, along with 0 and 00. Each number on the wheel has a corresponding space on the betting table. The wheel is spun at the start of the game, and a ball is tossed in. The patrons bet on the number that they expect the ball to settle on.

Craps: Craps is a casino dice game in which one player throws or "shoots" a pair of dice across a table. Both the "shooter" and the other players make bets based on what combinations/totals will be rolled. (Certainly one of the more complicated casino games)

Keno: A casino game that is not unlike a state lottery, in which you choose a certain amount of numbers, usually a maximum of 20, out of a total number of 80.
